British-Nigerian Influencer Dies After Penis Enlargement Procedure in Thailand
Everything in life has its advantages and disadvantages. That is why it is important to properly research and understand the potential benefits and risks of any procedure before deciding whether to go ahead.
This is particularly important when a decision involves one’s health, as there is no replacement for human life.
The public is therefore being urged to learn from the tragic death of 43-year-old British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, who reportedly died after undergoing a penis-enlargement procedure during a holiday in Thailand with his wife.
According to reports by Vanguard and the Daily Mail, Ubiribo underwent the procedure at a clinic in Bangkok, where he reportedly received 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine.
The situation reportedly turned tragic shortly after the procedure.
The Daily Mail reported that Ubiribo began experiencing chest pain and twice lost consciousness while having a massage with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen.
He was rushed by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where doctors identified a pulmonary embolism — a potentially life-threatening condition in which a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in the lungs.
Doctors reportedly recommended a CT scan, but Ubiribo lost consciousness before it could be carried out. Medical personnel subsequently attempted to resuscitate him for more than 100 minutes before he died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination conducted in the United Kingdom reportedly found cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs that matched the hyaluronic acid used in the penile filler injection, supporting the diagnosis of a pulmonary embolism.
At an inquest, Coroner Jean Harkin reportedly concluded that Ubiribo died “as the result of a cosmetic procedure abroad”, with the cause of death recorded as a pulmonary embolism resulting from the injection of hyaluronic acid into the penis.
Ubiribo, who reportedly had about 185,000 followers on Instagram, was laid to rest in London in May. The funeral was attended by Nigerian music star Davido and other prominent personalities, according to the Daily Mail.
For many people who may have noticed his absence from social media and wondered why the once-active influencer had suddenly stopped appearing online, the answer is tragically simple: Igho Ubiribo is no longer alive.
His death is a painful reminder that cosmetic procedures, like other medical interventions, can carry serious risks and should never be undertaken without proper information, qualified medical advice and careful consideration of possible complications.
May his soul rest in peace.
