CILT Nigeria 2026 Conference: Imo Gov, NIPSS DG to Lead Transport, Logistics Solutions Summit in Abuja

Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector is set for a major policy conversation as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria prepares to bring policymakers, investors, operators and other industry stakeholders together in Abuja to address challenges affecting the movement of people and goods across the country.
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been unveiled as Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 National Conference of CILT Nigeria, scheduled to hold from October 21 to 23, 2026, at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

The Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, will lead the keynote discourse at the conference.
Speaking at a pre-conference briefing held on Wednesday, September 16, at the NIMASA Resource Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Professor Kayode Oyesiku, said the gathering was designed to move the conversation on Nigeria’s transport and logistics challenges from repeated discussions to practical solutions.
Oyesiku, who was represented at the briefing by the Dean of Transport and Logistics at Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ogochukwu Ugboma, said the conference would bring together stakeholders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
With the theme, “Transforming Nigeria’s Transport and Logistics Systems for Shared Prosperity and Sustainable Infrastructure,” the conference is expected to examine how better transport systems can reduce the difficulties Nigerians face in moving people, farm produce, industrial goods and essential services across the country.
Oyesiku described the conference as a solution-focused gathering that would bring policymakers into direct engagement with regulators, operators, investors, academics, technology providers, development partners, students and young professionals.
According to him, the objective is to identify clear priorities, establish responsibilities and build partnerships capable of turning workable ideas into action.
He said the participation of Professor Omotayo and Governor Uzodimma would help connect national policy with practical implementation at federal, state and industry levels.
Six major panel sessions will focus on sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure, digital transformation and smart logistics, integrated multimodal connectivity, governance and policy reform, infrastructure financing, human capital development and inclusive mobility.
The programme will also feature academic presentations, a “NEXT GEN Hour” for students and young professionals, a conference dinner and awards, as well as a technical field tour designed to connect policy discussions with realities on the ground.
One of the major attractions of the conference will be the “Deal Room,” an initiative aimed at moving potentially bankable transport and logistics projects from the conference hall to investors and policymakers.
Chairman of the FCILT Editorial Board, Chief Festus Okorie, said selected projects would be presented before policymakers, investors and development partners, including representatives of the World Bank and selected states.
He described the Deal Room as a “live marketplace” where viable ideas could attract the partnerships and financing required for implementation.
“We have been talking about the challenges; now we are going to take action,” Okorie said.
The organisers said the conference is open to members of the public and invited transport and logistics companies, professional associations, unions, regulators, researchers, investors, technology firms, development partners and other interested stakeholders to participate.
They also urged prospective participants to register early to ensure effective planning and orderly participation.
Registration information and updates, according to the organisers, will be made available through CILT Nigeria’s official website and social media communication channels.
The briefing was attended by key officials of CILT Nigeria and representatives of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), including the agency’s Director of Human Resources.
