How Nigeria can mobilise the money needed to build a cleaner, more resilient and inclusive economy will come under the spotlight on Thursday as financial experts, government representatives, development institutions, business leaders, philanthropists and academics converge in Lagos for the 2026 Sustainable Finance Summit 3.0.

The summit, convened by Stanbic IBTC Holdings in collaboration with the Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre (LBSSC), will focus on the theme: “Financing Nigeria’s Just Transition: Mobilising Capital for People, Policy and Prosperity.”

The one-day event is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will also be streamed online via YouTube Live, allowing participants beyond Lagos to follow the discussions.

At the heart of the summit is a question that increasingly affects businesses, households and communities across Nigeria: how can the country finance the transition to a more sustainable economy without leaving vulnerable people and businesses behind?

Organisers say the summit will provide a platform for stakeholders across the public and private sectors to examine ways of unlocking green capital and directing it towards projects and initiatives that can support Nigeria’s development while strengthening resilience to environmental and economic pressures.

The discussions are expected to examine the relationship between finance, public policy, enterprise development and sustainable growth, with participants considering how investors and financial institutions can play a greater role in funding Nigeria’s transition.

For businesses, the conversation could have implications for access to sustainable finance, investment opportunities and the changing expectations around environmental and social responsibility.

For government and development institutions, the summit offers an opportunity to examine how policies and financing mechanisms can attract more capital into projects capable of generating jobs, strengthening communities and supporting long-term economic growth.

The organisers are also positioning the event as a platform for collaboration, bringing together players who control or influence different parts of the financing ecosystem.

With Nigeria facing significant development and infrastructure financing needs, the question of where the capital will come from — and how effectively it can be deployed — remains central to efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth.

The 2026 Sustainable Finance Summit 3.0 is therefore expected to provide a meeting point for ideas, partnerships and possible financing solutions around Nigeria’s just transition.

Members of the public and interested stakeholders who cannot attend physically will be able to follow the event online through the summit’s YouTube Live broadcast.
