Four Children Rescued as Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Child Sexual Exploitation in Anambra
Four children, aged between two and nine, have been rescued by the police in Anambra State following the arrest of a 36-year-old woman accused of producing and circulating pornographic materials involving children.
The children were rescued during a police operation in Onitsha on Thursday, September 10, after security operatives received information about a disturbing video allegedly circulating online.
The suspect, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, was subsequently taken into custody for questioning.
Police said sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were also recovered during the operation.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect’s husband was also being interrogated as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged exploitation and determine whether other people were involved.
Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama, described the alleged abuse of children as unacceptable, stressing that the protection of minors must remain a priority.
He ordered a thorough investigation into the case and directed that the rescued children receive appropriate care, protection and support from relevant government agencies and other stakeholders.
The Police Command assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation.
It also commended vigilante operatives, residents and online information sources whose reports helped investigators trace and arrest the suspect.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of child abuse or exploitation to the appropriate authorities.
