Aunty Ogo’s Legacy Reaches Lagos As Foundation Takes Relief To Blind

A legacy built around compassion, service and care for mothers and children in Arochukwu, Abia State, is now extending its reach to Lagos, with the Legacies of Aunty Ogo Foundation set to embark on an outreach programme for the blind and other vulnerable people.

The foundation, founded in Arochukwu Kingdom with a national outlook, says the forthcoming outreach in the Igando area of Lagos will focus on donating relief materials and offering support to people living with visual impairment.

With the slogan, “Touching Lives, Building Hopes,” the foundation says the initiative is part of its broader commitment to improving the lives of women, children and vulnerable members of society.

Director of the foundation, Mrs Adlyn Chikodi disclosed this in a statement released ahead of the outreach.

The statement identified Mrs. Chidimma Onoh as the Lagos Branch Coordinator and announced that the Lagos team would be visiting the blind as part of its humanitarian activities.

“Together we can make a difference. We help spread the message of love to humanity,” the statement said.

But behind the foundation’s name is a story rooted in one woman’s years of service to humanity.

Aunty Ogo, a renowned midwife in Arochukwu, became a household name through the maternity centre where she provided antenatal, delivery and postnatal care to women from across the local government area.

At a time when government health facilities were largely unable to meet the needs of residents, her maternity centre became a trusted destination for expectant mothers and families seeking safe maternal care.

Years after her death, some of the children delivered at her facility, now grown and established, came together to preserve her memory and continue the humanitarian values for which she was known.

That effort gave birth to the Legacies of Aunty Ogo Foundation.

Rather than allowing her contribution to fade into history, the foundation has adopted humanitarian service as a way of keeping her legacy alive, extending assistance to poor and vulnerable people in Arochukwu and other communities within the local government area.

The planned Lagos outreach is therefore more than a donation exercise. For the organisers, it is another chapter in a legacy that began with one woman caring for mothers and newborns and is now being carried forward by those whose lives were touched by her work.

The foundation says its goal is to continue spreading hope and compassion, while encouraging people to join hands in making a difference in the lives of those who need support.

.Great Legacies!  One Big Family!
