Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on Nigerians to remain united, prayerful and committed to the development of the country as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary
Hamzat made the call on Friday at a special Jumat service held at the Lagos State Secretariat Community Central Mosque in Alausa, Ikeja.

The service, organised by the Lagos State
Ministry of Home Affairs, brought together Muslim faithful, government officials and other stakeholders to pray for peace, stability, good governance and sustainable development in Nigeria and Lagos State.
The Deputy Governor urged Nigerians to continue seeking divine guidance while actively contributing their quota to the growth and development of the nation.
He emphasised the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility in confronting the challenges facing the country, stressing that the task of building a better Nigeria requires the commitment of all citizens.
Hamzat also called for prayers for the nation’s leadership and the Lagos State Government, as the country reflects on its journey since independence and looks ahead to a more peaceful and prosperous future.
The Jumat service offered an opportunity for the Muslim community and government representatives to reflect on Nigeria’s independence journey while seeking God’s guidance for the country’s affairs.
Also present at the service was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside other government officials and Muslim faithful.
The gathering ended with prayers for peace, prosperity, good governance and sustainable development across Nigeria, with particular emphasis on Lagos State.
As Nigeria marks another year of independence, the message from the gathering was one of renewed hope, unity and a shared responsibility to build a stronger nation.
