Orji, who is the National President of the Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), held a strategic meeting on Wednesday with a representative of a Polish organisation to discuss possible collaboration in teacher training.

According to the education advocate, the organisation had previously provided funding to support teacher training in Nigeria, an intervention he hopes to revive to strengthen the country’s education sector.

AFED, which is committed to making education affordable and accessible to every Nigerian child of school age, has prioritised professional development and competence-based training for teachers to improve classroom delivery and learning outcomes.

The association believes that equipping teachers with the right skills and knowledge is essential to improving the quality of education and ensuring that children receive the support they need to succeed academically.

Providing details of the meeting with the Polish partner,Agata Willem of the Whybluesky , Orji said the organisation had secured funding for teacher training in Nigeria about seven years ago and was exploring opportunities to renew the partnership.

“I went to another meeting with our Poland partner, Willem, who had secured some funds to help train teachers in Nigeria. We secured such an opportunity about seven years ago,” he said.

Orji’s engagement with the Polish partner came on the same day he attended the Education Writers’ Association of Nigeria (EWAN) summit in Lagos as a dignitary.

The renewed effort underscores AFED’s commitment to exploring international partnerships that can strengthen teachers’ capacity, improve educational standards and expand access to quality learning opportunities for Nigerian children.
