28 Human Skulls, Bones Suspected to Be Those of Kidnap Victims Found in Abia Forest

Abians have been left shocked and horrified following the discovery of 28 human skulls and skeletal remains in a forest in the Isuochi area of Abia State, suspected to be those of kidnapped victims who may have died in the custody of their abductors.
The grim discovery was made during a raid by operatives of the Abia State Police Command, comprising several tactical teams and officers from the Isuochi Divisional Police Station, on suspected criminal camps located in the forests at Umuaku and Nneato, both in Isuochi.

The discovery has heightened concerns over the activities of criminal elements operating from forested areas of the state and the fate of victims who may have been abducted and taken into such locations.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, said investigation into the discovery is ongoing, while the area is being monitored with a view to apprehending suspects who fled when the tactical teams arrived.

The Command said the remains recovered from the forest are suspected to be those of victims of criminal activities, although investigations are expected to establish their identities and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Afolabi, reiterated the commitment of the Command to denying criminals hiding places across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and other security concerns to the nearest police station.

For families who may have loved ones missing, the discovery raises painful questions about the fate of those who disappeared without trace and the possibility that some may have been victims of criminal gangs operating in the forests.

As investigations continue, authorities are expected to work towards identifying the remains and determining exactly what happened to the victims.
