White academics, global experts converge at LASU for International Community Psychology Conference
An impressive gathering of white academics, professors, researchers and other scholars has filled the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Hall at Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, as the 11th International Conference of Community Psychology gets underway.
The international gathering has brought together experts from different parts of the world to discuss issues around community psychology and how psychological knowledge can be used to improve people’s lives and strengthen communities.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is expected to attend the conference as a special guest, alongside his wife.
Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, is scheduled to deliver the welcome address, while Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, will give the opening address.
The State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, is expected to deliver the keynote address, while Professor Andrew Zamani is billed as a guest speaker.
The conference will also feature a panel discussion, as well as goodwill messages from traditional rulers and international dignitaries.
For many of the participants, the gathering offers an opportunity to move community psychology beyond the classroom and research environment and explore practical ways of addressing challenges affecting individuals, families and communities.
