Editorial Policy

Our Editorial Standards
UKATA NEWS is committed to producing journalism that is accurate, fair, independent, responsible and in the public interest.
Our editorial decisions are guided by professional journalistic principles and respect for the rights, dignity and safety of individuals and communities.

  1. Accuracy and Verification
We make reasonable efforts to verify information before publication.
News reports should be based on reliable sources, official documents, direct observations, interviews or other credible evidence. Where information cannot be independently verified, this should be made clear to readers.
We do not knowingly publish false information.
  2. Fairness and Balance
UKATA NEWS seeks to present relevant sides of a story, particularly where allegations, disputes or matters of public controversy are involved.
Where a person or organization is the subject of a serious allegation, we will make reasonable efforts to obtain their response.
  3. Independence
Editorial decisions should not be influenced by advertisers, sponsors, political interests, commercial relationships or personal considerations.
Advertising and sponsored material should be distinguishable from independent editorial content.
  4. Sources
    We identify sources wherever possible.
Anonymous sources may be used when there is a legitimate reason to protect the source’s identity and the information is considered important to the public interest. Anonymous information should be subjected to appropriate verification.
  5. Corrections
When UKATA NEWS publishes a significant error, we will correct it as soon as reasonably possible.
Corrections should be transparent and should not be hidden from readers.
Readers who identify a factual error are encouraged to contact us with details of the disputed information and, where possible, supporting evidence.
  6. Right of Reply
UKATA NEWS recognizes the importance of allowing individuals and organizations to respond to substantive allegations or claims made against them.
A response may be published as part of the original story, in an update or through another appropriate editorial format.
  7. Opinion and Commentary
Opinion articles represent the views of their authors and do not necessarily represent the editorial position of UKATA NEWS.
Opinion contributors are expected to distinguish clearly between fact, interpretation and personal opinion.
  8. Conflict of Interest
Our journalists and contributors should avoid situations in which personal, financial or professional interests could compromise—or reasonably appear to compromise—their editorial independence.
Potential conflicts should be disclosed where relevant.
  9. Photographs, Video and Digital Material
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that photographs, videos and other digital materials used by UKATA NEWS are properly sourced and accurately presented.
Images should not be manipulated in a way that materially misrepresents reality without clear disclosure.
  10. Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools may be used to support certain editorial processes, such as research assistance, transcription, translation, formatting or editing.
However, AI-generated information should not be treated as automatically accurate. Human editorial judgment and appropriate verification remain essential.
We will not knowingly present fabricated AI-generated material as genuine journalism.
  11. Children and Vulnerable People
Extra care should be exercised when reporting stories involving children, victims of abuse, vulnerable people or individuals facing serious personal risks.
The public interest should be carefully weighed against potential harm.
  12. Public Interest
UKATA NEWS recognizes the importance of journalism that exposes wrongdoing, explains public policy, examines environmental and economic challenges and gives citizens information needed to make informed decisions.
We seek to pursue legitimate public-interest stories responsibly and fairly.
  13. Complaints
Readers who believe UKATA NEWS has breached these standards are encouraged to contact us with details of the complaint.
Complaints should identify the story concerned, explain the specific issue and, where applicable, provide evidence supporting the complaint.
UKATA NEWS will consider legitimate complaints and take appropriate editorial action where necessary.
