Orji Kanu Emmanuel Receives Heroic Welcome in Isu, Promises to Prioritise Peace and Development

In continuation of his constituency-wide consultation visits following the commencement of his campaign, Hon. Orji Kanu Emmanuel received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the people of Isu community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.

The community was agog as Hon. Orji and his entourage arrived, with traditional leaders, elders, party faithful and residents turning out in large numbers to receive him.

Isu holds a special place in Hon. Orji’s life and political journey, having grown up in the community and attended both primary and secondary schools there.

The community is also regarded as one of his strong support bases.

His first stop was the palace of the Eze Obieze of Isu, HRH Eze Mortimer, where he paid a courtesy visit before proceeding to a meeting with the party executives at the residence of the Ward Chairman.

Describing the visit as a fruitful engagement, Hon. Orji said it was essentially a homecoming, adding that a more comprehensive visit to the community would take place in the coming weeks.

Hon. Orji Kanu Emmanuel also assured the people of Isu that the community remains a priority on his agenda. He pledged to use the instrumentality of the legislature to seek lasting solutions to the lingering conflict in the area, which he said had been occasioned by attacks involving neighbouring Cross River communities.
He stressed that Isu remains central to the growth and development of Arochukwu Local Government, Abia State and Nigeria as a whole. He highlighted the community’s comparative advantage in fish production and other agricultural activities, noting that the return of peace would enable the people to fully harness these economic opportunities.
The House of Representatives candidate expressed sympathy and regret over the prolonged suffering experienced by the people as a result of the conflict, noting that more than half of Isu land has remained inaccessible because of the crisis.
Hon. Orji thanked the traditional leaders, elders, party executives, party faithful and the entire people of Isu for the warm and heroic reception accorded him.
Hon. Orji Kanu Emmanuel is contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State.
