A socio-political group, Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027, has declared its intention to mobilise 19 million votes across the 19 northern states for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The group made the declaration in Abuja during a meeting attended by delegates representing the 19 northern states, where members discussed their mobilisation strategy ahead of the election.
Convener of the network, Ali Oriri, said the group’s decision to support President Tinubu was based on what it described as the administration’s policies and programmes aimed at repositioning the economy, improving infrastructure and strengthening Nigeria’s fiscal system.
Oriri said the network had established a grassroots structure across the North, which it plans to use to mobilise support for the President ahead of the 2027 election.
He identified the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms, and ongoing fiscal and tax reforms as measures which, in the group’s view, were difficult but necessary steps to address longstanding structural challenges in the economy.
According to Oriri, continuity would allow the reforms to mature and, as the group believes, translate into wider economic opportunities and improved living conditions for Nigerians.
The network also cited government investments in roads, rail, power, housing and agriculture as reasons for its support for continuity under President Tinubu.
Oriri said the group would take its mobilisation campaign to communities across the North, engaging traditional, religious, youth and community leaders.
He added that the network would explain to citizens what it described as the benefits and long-term objectives of the administration’s economic reforms.
Oriri maintained that the 19-million-vote target was achievable through effective coordination and sustained grassroots mobilisation across the region.
The group also expressed support for the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, whom it named as its patron.
