After more than 15 years without significant recruitment, the Federal Government has resumed employment into government agencies and parastatals, bringing fresh faces and renewed excitement to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

At least 16 newly recruited staff members deployed to FRCN Lagos Operations have been formally introduced to their colleagues at a staff forum held on Tuesday, September 8, at the Broadcasting Corporation of Radio Nigeria, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The new employees, described as full-fledged and pensionable members of the corporation, were received by the management and staff of Lagos Operations.

Introducing the new employees, the Deputy Director, Administration, Mr Adebayo Esho, described their recruitment as a welcome development after a prolonged period without fresh appointments.

Esho said the staff forum was designed to keep employees informed and promote cooperation within the organisation.

ā€œOn behalf of the DLO, I welcome you all to what I consider a family meeting. We want this forum to be regular because we don’t want anyone to be kept in the dark about what is happening. We want the full cooperation and involvement of everyone as one family.ā€

Explaining the reason for the introduction, he said some staff had noticed unfamiliar faces around the organisation without knowing who they were.

ā€œMaybe you have been seeing new faces and you don’t know who they are. This is one of the reasons for our gathering today—to inform you that we now have some new staff sent to us from the headquarters.ā€

According to him, 16 new staff had so far been formally documented and posted to Lagos Operations.

ā€œI received not less than 16 documented new staff. They are full-fledged staff members of the corporation and are pensionable. After due diligence, they are pensionable members of staff.ā€

Esho congratulated the new employees, noting that they were selected from a large pool of applicants.

ā€œI would like to congratulate them. They were chosen from a lot of people. We are expecting others.ā€

He also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for approving the recruitment exercise and urged the new employees to take their responsibilities seriously.

The Deputy Director charged Heads of Departments to provide the new staff with proper training and mentorship, stressing that their effective integration would be critical to their contribution to the corporation.

ā€œThey deserve rigorous and proper training. Heads of Departments should train them so that they will know a bit of what we do here.ā€

The forum also provided an opportunity for management to update staff on the 2026 promotion exercise.

Esho disclosed that the exercise was about 70 per cent completed before it was temporarily put on hold, adding that it would resume soon.

He advised staff expecting to participate in the exercise to remain prepared, as they could be called upon once the process resumes.

He also announced that preparations for the 2027 promotion exercise would commence soon, urging eligible employees to ensure that they meet the necessary requirements.

According to him, the requirements for promotion have already been stipulated, and staff who meet the criteria would be given the opportunity to participate.

He explained that the Federal Civil Service Commission requires relevant academic qualifications for promotion to certain levels, urging employees to acquire the necessary qualifications to remain eligible.

The Director, Lagos Operations, Princess Adenike Adegoke, who was represented by the Deputy Director, ICT, Mrs Aina Ajanaku, welcomed staff to the forum and thanked them for attending.

Heads of various departments were also present at the meeting.

The arrival of the new employees marks a significant moment for FRCN Lagos Operations, coming after years in which staff strength had largely depended on existing personnel and internal career progression.
