Opay Management To Customers: We Are Not Going Anywhere

OPay has moved to calm customers following a social media rumour claiming that the digital financial platform would suspend operations indefinitely from September 1, 2026.

The fintech company, in a response to an inquiry by Ukata News, dismissed the claim as false and misleading, assuring customers that its services remain fully operational.

The rumour, which circulated widely across social media, allegedly advised OPay customers to withdraw or transfer their funds from the platform before the purported shutdown.

The claim sparked concern among some users, particularly customers who depend on OPay for everyday payments, transfers and other financial transactions.

But OPay management said there is no basis for the panic.

In its response to Ukata News, the company said:

“This claim is completely false. OPay is not going on any break. We remain fully operational, and our services continue as normal.”

OPay also warned customers against acting on unverified information, urging them to confirm announcements through its official communication channels before sharing or taking any action.

The company said the circulating publication was not an official OPay communication and urged customers to disregard it.

OPay added that it takes the spread of false information capable of causing unnecessary concern or panic among customers seriously, saying it would continue to take appropriate steps to protect its customers and the integrity of its communications.

For customers still wondering whether they can continue using the platform, the company gave a clear assurance:

“You can continue to use OPay’s services with confidence.”

It ended its message with a reassurance that is likely to resonate with anxious customers:

“We are here, and we’re going nowhere.”

OPay signed off with the hashtag #OPayIsOkay.
