JAMB Gives Admission Candidates One Last Chance to Save Old Offers
Thousands of admission seekers who may have thought they had missed their chance to secure or regularise university admission now have one final window to act.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to either accept or reject the offers.
The new deadline is September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates additional time to resolve the status of outstanding admission offers.
JAMB had earlier fixed August 31, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with admission offers dating from 2021 to indicate whether they wanted to accept or reject them.
The Board described the extension as a final opportunity, warning that candidates who fail to act before September 30 could lose the admission offers permanently.
Candidates with pending offers are therefore advised not to wait until the last day but to log into their JAMB profiles and take the necessary action.
Those who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed to print and obtain their admission letters.
Candidates who no longer want the admission can reject it.
Their dashboards will subsequently revert to “Not Admitted,” allowing JAMB to update its national admission records.
For candidates who have since moved to another institution or are studying a different programme from the one for which the old admission was offered, JAMB said they may accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
Similarly, candidates who are already pursuing a second degree but still have an earlier unaccepted admission offer may reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB also sought to calm the fears of candidates who have received admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier admission offer pending.
Such candidates can reject the previous offer without any adverse effect on their 2026 admission.
The Board said the extension is intended to give affected candidates a final opportunity to clearly indicate their decision while helping JAMB maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission records.
But there is a firm warning: there will be no further extension after September 30.
At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and will remain that way on JAMB’s records.
For candidates who have been holding on to old admission offers, the message is simple: act now or risk losing the opportunity altogether.
