Orji Kanu Strengthens Grassroots Support, Engages Ward Executives in Arochukwu
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State in the forthcoming general election, Hon. Orji Emmanuel Kanu, is consolidating his grassroots support base ahead of the election, with a series of meetings with party executives and supporters across the wards in Arochukwu Local Government Area.
At a meeting with ADC executives from various wards in Arochukwu, Kanu urged the party leaders to see themselves as the eyes and ambassadors of the party at the grassroots, charging them to uphold the party’s image and values in their respective communities.
He assured the executives that the party and its candidates at various levels would provide the necessary support, but stressed that electoral victory could only be achieved through the collective efforts of candidates, party leaders, executives and supporters.
“I will not be here all the time, and neither will the other aspirants. You are here as our eyes and representatives. There is a limit to what we can contribute as individuals, but together, what needs to be done will be done, and the party will record a resounding victory,” Kanu said.
He added that the ultimate victory would be for the benefit of all party members and the people of the constituency.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the executives and supporters to ask questions and discuss issues concerning the party and the forthcoming election.
It ended on a positive note, with participants expressing optimism about the party’s prospects.
The engagement came shortly after Kanu held a similar meeting with ADC executives and supporters in Isu community, where he also received a warm reception.
As consultations continue, stakeholders in other parts of the constituency, including Ihechiowa, Ohafia and Ututu, are expected to host the House of Representatives aspirant.
Kanu said his team, working with party chieftains, supporters and other stakeholders, was preparing for what he described as a groundbreaking campaign across the constituency.
Kanu, who hails from Arochukwu Kingdom in Arochukwu Local Government Area, is the National President of the Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), an umbrella organisation of school administrators, entrepreneurs and teachers providing affordable education to Nigerian children.
As the first Igbo man to lead the association at the national level, Kanu has used the position to facilitate foreign empowerment interventions for school owners and teachers, including grants and scholarship opportunities.
As part of his agenda for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Kanu has pledged to leverage his connections, influence and legislative powers to create scholarship opportunities for children, promote economic empowerment for young people, strengthen security in border communities, attract social amenities and provide effective representation for the people.
